Leadership Team

Chupa Nelson, Founder

R.A. "Chupa" Nelson came to the Vail Valley in 1966 where he joined the Vail Ski Patrol. During the summers he took on construction work to fill his time. This was the start of his building career; in 1976 he started his own company. Over the last 40 years, RA Nelson has built some of the most notable mountain communities. Chupa has always been passionate about community involvement and giving back. He has sat on numerous local non-profit boards including the Vail Valley Foundation, the Vail Valley Medical Center, The Youth Foundation, and Eagle County Open Space Advisory. Chupa's dedication to the community has become cornerstone of the company.

Travis Bossow, President

Travis is a second-generation builder. He worked for his father's home building company while in high school in the Vail Valley. After 12 years in the Preconstruction Department at RA Nelson, he took on a leadership role as President and Owner. Travis is most passionate about building custom homes and working with clients to deliver a high quality home that will be enjoyed for generations to come. With over 30 years of experience, Travis excels at leading and uniting the team while providing suggestions to ensure the construction process runs smoothly. He is dedicated to giving back to the community and serves on several local boards and advisory councils, including the CMC Advisory Board, Second Wind Fund, and the Vail Valley Partnership Economic Development Advisory Council.

Bruce Gentry, Vice President / Roaring Fork Senior Project Manager

Growing up on a farm, Bruce started working with his hands at a young age and his interest in construction followed. He started working for RA Nelson in 1990 as a carpenter for a custom home project. His hard work and passion for building advanced him first to a Superintendent and then to the Roaring Fork Senior Project Manager and Owner of the company. In his current role, Bruce oversees all projects in the Roaring Fork Valley, lending his expertise and knowledge of twenty-six years in the construction industry. He excels in challenging building situations, always looking for a better and more efficient way to do things by utilizing resources, his talented staff, and dedicated subcontractors. For Bruce, RA Nelson is not just a company, it's a family.

Sharon Jones, Vice President / CFO

Sharon has been a CPA for over 30 years. After working at two of the Big 8 accounting firms conducting audits throughout the country, she came to the mountains to work, ski and hike. She started with RA Nelson in 1989 as a Controller and has since helped make financial and strategic planning decisions in her leadership role and as an owner of the company. Sharon has been an active member of CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association) since 1990, serving as a board member, committee member, national member and past president of the Colorado chapter. Dedicated to giving back to her community, Sharon has been an avid supporter of numerous local organizations and fundraisers for both local and regional charities each year.
