WECMRD Field House | Edwards, Colorado
An award-winning, sustainably-designed, steel-framed WECMRD athletic field with multi-use space for indoor soccer, gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, and an indoor climbing wall. Actively involved while the project was just a sketch, the preconstruction team helped the Metro District get to the budget that they needed in order to make the project viable. The cost effective structure was designed to incorporate many innovative and sustainable options, including a Solar Wall®, Solar PV Panels, natural daylighting, and three (3) Big Ass Fans®. The field house has a synthetic turf, a gymnastics area, a multi-purpose basketball court, and human dynamo exercise bikes that generate electricity. The facility also houses the sheriff offices.

"The quality control and final product were exceptional. Follow up energy metering has shown the facility to consume 64% less energy than a comparable building. We are convinced this was achieved in large part due to RA Nelson’s diligence, team approach, and relentless efforts to ensure that the facility was built to the highest standards."- Steve Russell, Executive Director, Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District (Mountain Rec)
